Grassland Reserve Program

The Grassland Reserve Program (GRP) is a voluntary program offering landowners the opportunity to protect, restore, and enhance grasslands on their property.  The Natural Resources Conservation Service and the Farm Service Agency are coordinating implementation of the GRP in Georgia.  In 2005, the Georgia program emphasizes support for grazing operations, plant and animal biodiversity, and grassland under the greatest threat of conversion.  Using 10, 15, 20, and 30 year rental agreements, the GRP will help protect vulnerable grasslands from conversion to non-agricultural uses and conserve valuable grasslands by helping to maintain viable livestock operations.
