Rural Water Supply

Rural water supply includes measures installed for the establishment of group water supplies primarily for agricultural use in rural areas.  These measures can include all uses of water in rural areas to meet the needs of households, farmstead, small firms, or community facilities.  Rural areas are those areas where residents live on farms, in unincorporated settlements, or in incorporated villages or small towns and where agriculture (including woodland activities) and extractive industries (including seafood harvesting) provide the primary employment base.  The service area for rural water supply shall not include any area in any city or town that has a population of over 10,000 inhabitants according to the latest decennial census of the United States.
