Projects

A project is a study of several plant species that have been collected and assembled based on their potential for solving a natural resource problem.

Plant Materials Specialists work on project plans which serve to address specific natural resource problems and needs identified by the states the Jimmy Carter Plant Materials Center serves. A project plan identifies the problem, defines the objectives of the study, and details the work required in the field as well as the greenhouse or laboratory work required to solve the problems.

Plant evaluation criteria includes: plant adaptation, disease resistance, drought resistance, vigor, spread, persistence, percent ground cover, vegetative production and characteristics for intended uses.
