Prime Farmland in Georgia

(The  links below are outside of the Georgia NRCS web site.)

Georgia recognizes 2 categories of Important Farmlands: (1) Prime Farmland and (2) Additional Farmland of Statewide Importance. Lists of soils that meet the criteria for Important Farmland are maintained by soil survey areas, which may include 1 to 3 counties. These lists are available on the Soil Data Mart, in the report titled "Prime and other important farmlands".

Information about prime and other important farmland are published in the Code of Federal Regulations 7CFR657. The website is: http://www.access.gpo.gov/nara/cfr/waisidx_00/7cfr657_00.html
