When new Assistant State Public Affairs Specialist Ron Morton joined NRCS in January, he brought along a little something extra--his wife, Maria.

"I decided to join the Earth Team because I am interested in learning more about conservation and I saw that help was needed in public affairs. It was also a way for me to ease back into the work force after being gone for a while.”

“We are thrilled to have her;” said State Public Affairs Specialist Mary Ann McQuinn, “It was like getting two for one! We launched a new service for field employees and needed help producing the materials.”

Maria commutes with her husband and works two or three days a week producing packets for field office events.  “I enjoy the company on the commute,” said Ron Morton.

Maria runs the button production equipment and teaches other intermittent volunteers.  “I enjoy each project that I work on because in a small way, it aids in distributing information about conservation to the people, especially the children.  I would tell anyone interested in volunteering on the Earth Team to sign up now! Don’t hesitate!” she said.

Individuals from all walks of life volunteer to help NRCS and districts carry out their conservation mission. Volunteers help to protect and conserve the Earth's natural resources.

By volunteering you will help ensure that generations to come will enjoy Earth's natural bounty.

You will learn new skills and meet and work with new people.
